About The Guild

The Mission of The St. Augustine Home Guild

The St. Augustine Home Guild is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to aiding the Little Sisters of the Poor in the operation of the St. Augustine Home in Indianapolis.

Who We Are

Founded in 1967, The St. Augustine Home Guild is a volunteer group of women dedicated to aiding the Little Sisters of the Poor in their operation of the St. Augustine Home for the Aged. The women who join the Guild are from all stages of life, with various backgrounds who contribute their God-given talents toward improving the daily lives of Residents of the Home. Members serve in groups or as individuals; some work directly at the Home, others from their own homes. One of the unique qualities of the Guild is the willingness of the volunteers to donate countless hours assisting the Little Sisters of the Poor. Nearly 26 percent of the women have been members for 20 – 50 years and many have formed lifelong friendships with fellow Guild volunteers.

Through these efforts, the members continue to honor and preserve the Guild’s legacy “Love Made Visible” by embracing the spirit and love of the Little Sisters of the Poor and their foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan. In this manner, the Guild sustains the mission of the Little Sisters to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they are welcomed as Christ, cared for as family, and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to Himself.
